Neurofeedback: An Introduction to Thinking Biologically About Mental Health
This is a recording of a talk given to students in my Master of Science in Psychotherapy program at McMaster University. It was written and presented to an audience of psychotherapists, mostly friends, so may introduce some slighly technical therapy-related concepts, and is given in a slightly informatl tone.
The purpose of the talk was to introduce folks to the idea of neurofeedback and the principles of treating mental illness from a 'biological' angle. I figured others may find it interesting, enjoy!

Neurofeedback and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
Neurofeedback (NFB) is a promising tool for treating PTSD, helping people train their brains to regulate emotions and reduce symptoms. While research shows encouraging results—especially for complex trauma—many studies still lack the rigorous design needed to confirm just how effective it is. Combining NFB with psychotherapy also brings unique challenges, like navigating the shifts in identity and emotional regulation that come with healing.
